The Ogres Hummingbird
Biography
Singer songwriter Alan.s.Robinson formed The Ogres Hummingbird with three of his nieces, Kara Burke on vocals, Katherine Robinson on electric guitar and ukulele, and Joanne Robinson on keyboards and spoken word. On the their first album they were joined by Kara’s partner Chris Myers on bass for half a dozen tracks, and Cookie on bass for three tracks. After finishing the first Ogre’s album, Alan.s.Robinson went back to working on solo material and a side project with Cookie while very slowly The Ogres Hummingbird worked towards a second album, playing sporadic gigs along the way. The second album was completed in late 2024 and released on vinyl.
As a live band we perform as a four piece. Past gigs have included the Kimberley Jam, Melton Mowbrey Folk Festival, the D.H.Lawrence music festival and Equinox festival near Louth. Upcoming gigs include Equinox Festival September 2025, Beeston Oxjam October 2025, West Coast Folk Festival (Blackpool) January 2026.
